Here's a summary of our recommended applications and fishing scenarios for the Guideline Compline PRO™ monofilament shooting line.
Compline PRO™ 25lbs/11,3kg White -
If you love using ultra-thin shooting lines, this is the one for you! The 25lb version is a perfect choice for single-hand rods and light shooting heads. Its exceptionally low diameter pairs perfectly with our light ULS shooting heads. This model is also widely used in casting sport events and is approved in diameter according to ICSF regulations for fly casting disciplines.
Compline PRO™ 35lbs/15,8kg Orange -
If you prefer a shooting line that’s a bit easier to handle while still being thin enough for single-hand fishing, this is the perfect choice! It pairs beautifully with our ULS and 3D+ Compact heads, as well as the 4D Compact Multi Tip. This model works great with single-hand rods and is also an excellent match for switch and light double-hand (DH) rods.
Compline PRO™ 45lbs/20,4kg Yellow -
For a “classic” setup targeting salmon, steelhead, and sea trout, this model is a perfect match for rods between 11'6"–14' and #6/7–9/10 DH ratings. It provides enough strength and reliability for big salmon while remaining thin enough to achieve great casting distances with a typical all-round salmon setup. We recommend pairing this line with our Classic Scandi Bodies and 4D Tips.
Compline PRO™ 55lbs/25kg Green -
If you frequently fish larger waters with big rods and heavier lines, this shooting line is a must-try. The Compline PRO 55lb is perfectly suited for shooting heads in #9/10–#10/11 with rods between 13'9" and 15'9", though it can be used for a wider range of setups. It’s an excellent choice for heavy sinking lines, such as our Classic Scandi S1/S3 or S3/S5 bodies.
Compline PRO™ 65lbs/29,4kg Red -
This model is the ultimate choice for heavy sinking lines, large rods, and big rivers. The extra strength ensures the shooting line will never be the weakest link if you get snagged on the bottom. In fact, this line is stronger than almost any fly line out there, so be cautious when using extremely strong tippets, as the shooting head could become the weakest link instead. This line is a perfect match for #10/11 rods and up (14'–17'), paired with our Classic Scandi S1/S3 or S3/S5 bodies.
