Ephemera Danica mainly live in rivers, except on the British Isles where they are also found in still water. This fly is most often used during spinner falls and when the trout have switched to picking dead or dying females on the water. However, it is also an excellent search fly during the periode of the hatch, spents are easy prey!

There are various solutions to imitating a mayfly with such a large body. Our experience is that polychenille is the most functional extended bodies on large mayflies. It provides a flexible body that does not prevent effective hooking, while the material has good floating properties. This variant has a double chenille body that is twisted to keep its shape well and is little stiffer than a single chenille. This means that it keeps its shape for a long time, the market's most high-end vulgata!

The mayfly Ephemera danica lives 2-3 years as a nymph. It belongs to the category of burrowing diurnal flies (such as E. vulgata) and in the nymph stage is largely inaccessible to the fish. The exception is before hatching where the nymphs are active swimmers. E. Danica can be found in flowing water, E. vulgata in still water or in very slow-flowing parts of the river. The nymph is long and slender - up to 25 mm long. As an adult insect, it can also reach the same impressive size.

Since 1993, knowledge and passion have been reflected in each of our products. We are dedicated to meet the high expectations of the modern fly angler with lesser impact on nature, while giving rise to everlasting moments by the water.
