These nymphs have a little different approach than most other typical euro nymphs. They are little less weighted as their bead size is one down, the purpose of this is to fish both slower moving water and shallower water when you use them without a heavier dropper fly. The look on these flies are imitative, soft legs of CDC adds life to the flies. Moving legs when you fish pools and slow-moving water is often better than typical perdigons with a more static look. This fly is a go-to pattern for all season when mayflies are around, choose size to imitate what is hatching or seen in the water.
The Tactical PTN in natural color resembles a lot of different mayfly nymphs. Natural color pheasant tail fibers are probably the most universal color you can have on a nymph for river fishing. Tails are Cock de Leon; wing case and legs are made of CDC. The orange dub in front of the wing case is a very effective trigger point and adds attraction and life to the fly. Tied on high quality barbless hooks Fasna, model F310. The black nickel tungsten bead gives it a natural and non-flashy look.
Tungsten bead size: #14/2,3mm - #16/2,0mm - #18/1,8mm.
